Endowed Fund for The Breast Cancer Site Researcher at Mayo Clinic From $25.00
Every moment counts in the fight against breast cancer and in the search for a cure. And now, The Breast Cancer Site has found one more way to help. Together with the Mayo Clinic, we've created The Breast Cancer Site Endowed Fund for Breast Cancer Research.
Help us fund this endowment! Contributions to the fund are matched by the Mayo Clinic up to $250,000, so your contribution is doubled at no extra cost to you.
The Mayo Clinic operates 3 research hospitals and over 50 clinics, and is one of the world's preeminent medical research facilities. Mayo Clinic collaborated with Gamma Medica and GE Healthcare to develop a diagnostic device that is sensitive enough to detect breast tumors as tiny as one-fifth of an inch in diameter. The new technique obtains images that, unlike mammography images, are not affected by dense breast tissue.
It's innovative and creative thinking like this that leads to important breakthroughs in the field of breast cancer research, where literally every minute counts toward a cure.
Interest earned from the fund will be used to pay the salary of a breast cancer researcher at the Mayo Clinic beginning in January 2008. The researcher will not test on animals. Once completely funded, The Breast Cancer Site Endowed Fund for Breast Cancer Research at the Mayo Clinic will fund breast cancer research in perpetuity.
